Thanks to Kris Dube for taking the time to chat with me about Between Two Seasons and its recent nomination in the fiction category of the Canadian Book Club Awards. Having the chance to talk about stories and writing is something I never take for granted.

Today was my first in-person event since Between Two Seasons came out, and it felt good to sign a few books and talk with people about stories. Big thanks to Coles at Lime Ridge Mall for hosting, and to everyone who stopped by on a beautiful day.

It’s official, folks: Between Two Seasons is out. Big thanks to Hannah Gordon and Gordon Publishing Collective for believing in me and this book. Thanks also to Leanne Persichini for a cover that feels just right, and to everyone who has supported me along the way.

Like the season itself, Autumn has changed into something new. The book has a new name—Between Two Seasons—and a new cover I’m in awe of. Heartfelt thanks to Leanne Persichini for the care she brought to the design, and to Hannah Gordon at Gordon Publishing Collective for giving this story a fresh beginning.

Autumn has been named a B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree. It’s an affirming recognition from readers who value an engaging plot, characters that feel real, and a story that lingers. I’m grateful they found something in these pages that stayed with them.

Autumn has been shortlisted for the Eric Hoffer Book Award grand prize — my first short list, and a humbling little surprise. It’s also being considered in the general fiction category. With fewer than five per cent of entries making the list, this feels like a small and meaningful win.

Autumn was awarded second place in Literary Fiction at this spring’s BookFest Awards. It’s incredibly affirming to have my work recognized for its storytelling, originality, and craft. I’m grateful for this recognition — and to everyone who’s supported the book’s journey.

I read aloud from Autumn today — a personal first as an author. It was part of Welland Public Library’s Local Authors and Poets Day, a celebration of storytelling across a range of genres. I didn’t expect the words to feel new again. But somehow, they did.

I sat in on a book club this week — not as a reader, but as the author. Hearing Autumn discussed through other viewpoints made me see it differently. Thank you to the Ladies of the Literary Book Society for warm welcome and wide-ranging conversation.

Autumn is a finalist in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards. I’m not sure if this kind of news will ever stop feeling surprising — or surreal. I’m just grateful this story continues to find readers, and that something in my writing resonates with them.

This is momentous news: I’ve signed a two-book deal with Spilt Ink Press. It’s humbling, and it still doesn’t quite feel real. I’m especially thankful to Hannah Gordon for believing in my writing, the stories I can tell, and the journey we’re embarking on together.

Thank you to Books & Buzz Magazine for this month’s cover feature. When you publish independently, exposure like this mean a lot. I’m grateful to publications that continue to champion creative voices.

First event of the year: Thorold Library’s Local Author Fair. A chance to talk shop with other writers, meet readers face to face, and remember how good it feels to be part of a community that believes in sharing stories.
